The Highly Anticipated iOS 8 Features

If you’re an Apple user and fanatic then of course you know that iOS 8 was released yesterday, September 17th, 2014 and we all can’t wait to try it out; these are some of the features that will be available in the new update:

1) Health:

This new fitness app is the beginning of Apple’s campaign to help us and push us to care more about our health

It is designed to measure our fitness as well as our sleeping habits.

Third party apps and hardware will be able to sync with the Health platform so that it can learn more about your health and fitness thanks to the HealthKit tool for developers.

2) Messages:

iMessage was just a simple back and forth texting app, but now they added the ability to record, share your location, send voice messages and videos without leaving the app.

In addition to all those awesome new features, group messages could be titled now instead of just showing a list of the group recipients.

3) iCloud:

It may not be like Google Drive or Dropbox, but apparently there are a large number of improvements for iCloud in iOS 8; for example, it will have a photo library that has all your photos stored that you can access from any of your Apple devices anytime, it will also be possible to open any document type from your iOS or Mac device.

4) Siri:

A number of cool things have been added to Siri in iOS 8; now Siri will wake up when you say “Hey Siri” as well as recognizing songs from Shazam, purchasing iTunes content without leaving the interface and many other improvements.

5) Continuity:

This feature is by far the most anticipated feature of the update.

With Apple has been trying to bring its mobile and desktop operating systems closer together, Continuity in iOS 8 can allow you to pick up where you left off on another device.

The most feature that people are most excited about is that you can now answer your iPhone from your Mac or iPad as long they’re all using the same Wi-Fi network.

Even if you don’t have Wi-Fi, your phone’s personal hotspot can now be controlled by your iPad or Mac.

In addition to all that awesomeness, Apple’s peer-to-peer file-sharing protocol, AirDrop, can now be used between both Mac and iOS devices. Continuity is definitely the most feature that will stand out in iOS 8.

6) Keyboards:

iPhone and iPad users could only use one keyboard for the longest time, even though there were many improvements including contextual suggestions from previous message, they’re finally opening up their keyboard API from third-party keyboard applications such as Swype and Fleksy, exciting!

7) Photos:

Photos were first organised chronologically, then the option of organizing them into albums became possible. Finally, in iOS 8, an important search functionality will be added to the Photos app which will allow you to find a photo based on when and where it was taken and by the album it’s in.

Of course there are many more features available in Apple’s latest update, update your software and find out!
