Today’s Best Social Networking Apps

Lately, it’s all about social media, it’s no longer just Twitter and Facebook as there is just so much more these days, especially now that the whole world has gone mobile the variety is countless.

So here are the social media apps running the world at the moment:

1)    WhatsApp:

Of course, we have to begin with WhatsApp, the leading instant messaging app in the world.

So far it is the ultimate role model for messaging apps; it’s user friendly, allows you to send texts, videos, pictures, voice messages and above all, it’s free!

Whatsapp is available for iOS, Android, and Windows Phone… well, duh

2)    Snapchat:

Snapchat used to be a photo app that you used to send and receive pictures to and from friends that are of an embarrassing nature and better yet, disappear after a certain period of time, which is mostly ten seconds.

However, Snapchat has evolved into the ultimate app for visual communication.

Due to its stories feature and text message feature, it has made it more successful than it already was, honestly not my personal favourite, but I do not represent the mainstream so go Snapchat!

Snapchat is available for iOS and Android only.

3)    Secret:

‘Secret’ is an app that allows you to interact with your friends and say anything on your mind because no one knows it’s you who is posting and you won’t know whose secret you’re reading.

The app was recently made pretty by allowing Flickr’s photo library to be used as background images instead of it just being text-based posts.

This app is available on iOS and Android.

4)    Instagram:

I think Instagram wins the photo app popularity contest as there is nothing more people like to do more than posting countless photos of themselves, their favourite food and their favourite locations, and they’ve finally found a platform to do so in hopes of achieving a high number of likes and followers.

Instagram is available on iOS and Android.

5)    LinkedIn:

LinkedIn is a great way to create and grow your professional network, it’s a great way to sell yourself and show people where you are in your career and what you have achieved so far.

It is a well-designed app that syncs your calendar to keep up with meetings and allows you to view and save recommended jobs.

LinkedIn is great as an app but when it comes to their website it doesn’t have the ultimate user experience one would hope for.

LinkedIn is available for iOS , Android and Windows Phone.

6)    Facebook & Facebook Messenger:

Facebook is still the number one social network out there.

Despite the appearance of new ones, Facebook is still the ultimate social network to reach out to people, share updates, photos and videos.

Facebook Messenger is a chat application now made separate from the actual Facebook app that allows you to chat without having to go through the trouble of opening Facebook to be able to chat. It is now in the process of being eliminated from the Facebook app altogether and have a separate entity.

It gets notifications just like whatsapp, it’s a legitmate chat app that allows you message your friends in addition to sending pictures, videos and calling them.

Facebook and Facebook Messenger are available for iOS, Android and Windows Phone.

7)    Tumblr:

Tumblr lets you follow blogs of your interest and create simple text, audio, photos, videos and quotes.

A great way to manage your blog while monitoring what other people are interested in

The Tumblr app is available for iOS, Android and Windows Phone.

8)    Pinterest:

And finally, Pinterest – final on our list but not final worldwide – is an app that allows you to find things that might be of interest to you that you can “pin” on your virtual pinboard; you can actually have a variety of pinboards according to your interests.

Like so many social media networks these days, you have followers that can comment or repin photos that you have initially pinned.

The Pinterest app is available for iOS, Android and Windows Phone.

And there you have it, the social networking apps taking over the world, and hopefully there will be many more to come, what will they do next?
