CitJo: The Hub for Citizen Journalists in the Middle East

Bright Creations recently launched the beta version of Citjo, a citizen journalism portal, to connect citizen journalists with media agencies worldwide.

Citjo, short for Citizen Journalist, was created to help ease the process of exchanging media between journalists and media agencies and to provide a method for citizen journalists to be able to monetize their content, including photos and videos.

Citizen Journalists, freelance journalists, activists and other contributors can upload their photos and videos to www.citjo.com, set a price, and if they are picked up my news agencies, get paid for their content.

Uniquely to make life easier for the user, they can also connect to their twitter account and from then on, if they upload a photo/video to twitter, hashtag their tweet with #CitJo to be able to index and sell it on www.citjo.com. The price and license for which is set in their account settings.

I recall last summer when Citjo was just an idea, how passionate Sarah Wali was when speaking about it and how excited Bright Creations and specially Mahamad El Tanahy were about giving life to an idea that we believe in its mission and vision.

Citjo has come a long way, but here we are now with a working beta version of the platform and Citjo.com is one of the 20 finalists in the Google Ebda2 competition.
