The Project
Al Tareeq is a young online newspaper providing its readers with independent news, reports, opinions, interviews and even a citizen journalist section. Bright Creations worked on the design and the development of the site to get it ready for its launch at the end of 2013.
From Sketch to Design
Starting a project off with wireframes is always important since it focuses on the actual architecture and functionality without any distracting colors that could influence a client’s decision. This is especially true when it comes to an online newspaper. The first set of wireframes that we worked on for Al Tareeq were exactly the way the client had imagined and finishing the design only included some minor updates. The design is blending in with the logo colors, while at the same time keeping it very clean – this is something that shouldn't be underestimated considering the amount of information going up on the site every single day.
The Result
All editors of Al Tareeq are more or less new to using the internet as their means of publishing news, that’s why we opted for a simple WordPress CMS that includes all the functionalities the writers need. Users can subscribe to the newspaper’s newsletter or become writers themselves by submitting their articles through the citizen journalist portal.
